Hiking Highlight
Routes leading to this Highlight may be dangerous
Routes may comprise technical, difficult, or hazardous terrain. Specialist equipment and prior experience may be required.
The arduous ascent is rewarded with an unobstructed 360-degree panorama. By far the highest mountain in the Rätikon towers far above its neighboring peaks. It is not for nothing that the summit cross bears the inscription "You are the lord of the mountains and the king of the peaks". The next higher mountain is more than 30 kilometers away in the Silvretta group.

We started our tour to climb the Schesaplana at the Douglasshütte, which is easily accessible via the Lünerseebahn.
The first part of the route leads through cozy green past the Lünersee. The route continued in the direction of Totalphütte. Here the ascent was more demanding, but for us boys with average fitness it was easily manageable. The paths are also well signposted and labeled.
The path between Totalphütte and Schesaplana is quite demanding and has (according to the route recording) an incline of around 28% in the last third.Tips: Take good shoes and enough to drink with you and reward yourself with a cool drink and delicious food in the Totalphütte on the descent 🍻

A beautiful mountain on which I was the first time at the age of 13 and since the 7 times already .... 😎😉

Beautiful panorama with a view of the Lünersee and the Brandner glacier.

The ascent, especially about the last quarter, is a bit strenuous, but the view at the top of the summit cross makes up for the effort ;-) it's not for nothing that the Schesaplana is the queen of the Rätikon 👍😊

The sweaty ascent is rewarded with a magnificent view....

Very frequented summit, but worth the climb. At the top you will be rewarded with a fantastic view.
The technical difficulties are limited (T3); Climbing is not necessary, but the ascent is constantly steep and sometimes a bit exposed with wire rope insurance. Scree and crumbly soil also require full attention when descending. Regular and fresh markers make pathfinding easy.

An almost 3000m that is easy to climb with a bit of fitness. Despite all this, it remains a high mountain tour.

The ascent to the summit is only for experienced people and, above all, with very good shoes! When you are at the top you have a wonderful panorama of Chur over Switzerland, the Säntis Bodensee and up to the Tyrolean Alps.

In order to enjoy the landscape in peace, you have to start early before the first gondola leaves.
