Mountaineering Highlight

The fantastically located Kemptner Hütte is one of the largest huts in the entire Alpine region. As the hut is also the first destination of the very popular crossing of the Alps from Oberstdorf to Meran, it can get quite crowded here in summer. Especially on Saturdays, guided Alpine crossings occupy many rooms and the sleeping places are fully booked in advance. If you grab another seat, you'll still enjoy your stay: The cabin staff is extremely friendly and can not be disturbed by many hikers.

One of the largest and, in terms of its location, one of the most important huts in the Alps. Since the hut is controlled by numerous long-distance hiking trails, there is a lot going on, especially at weekends, so you should book in advance in advance or postpone your hike during the week.

Despite the size, the cabin has a pleasant atmosphere. It is advisable to get up in the morning a little later, then it is surprisingly quiet at breakfast and the subsequent stage.

Large cabin with very large dormitories (dormitory). Despite the crowds that visit the cottage in the season, the staff is extremely friendly and fast. The food is great!

We only had a short rest on the E5 here. The cabin was replete with day visitors.

For all E5 hiking very popular and unfortunately therefore too full for others. The house itself is beautifully embedded below the Großer Krottenkopf and surrounded by lush meadows. Marmots are also available. Nice service and delicious food. I crashed the emergency camp. Class :)

The Kemptener Hütte is an ideal starting point for further tours. Muttler, Krottenkopf and other peaks offer themselves.
The landlords do their best to serve your guests excellently.

When it rains you go as a day guest through the boot room (under the sign Kemptner hut), take off your shoes there and then go up into the dining room. The ascent from Oberstdorf station takes about 5 hours, the descent to Holzgau about 3 hours.

Everything totally relaxed here. We were there within the week, outside the holiday season.
The innkeeper also manages the nearby livestock and is checked in when he returns, which can ever take a bit depending on the mood of the animals.
But no problem, nice atmosphere all.
Only the shoes are not dried.

If even the locals in the valley tell, that here is the best food in the region and also like to run up to dine.
