The Dartor is one of the 5 city gates of Saalfeld. Today only 4 gates are visible. The door can be climbed (10 to 17 o'clock) and one has a beautiful view of the old town.

One of the preserved city gates Saalfelds. Nice view over the old town. Of the former five medieval city gates Saalfelds the Darrtor occupies a special position within the city fortifications. The gate tower formed the passage to the former village community Alter Markt, which was immediately behind it, outside the city wall. With a few minutes walk from Saalfeld market square, the ascent to the fourth floor of the only accessible city gate is worthwhile. (Source: City of Saalfeld)
