The route to '' Trei Caldari '' or '' Windmills '' starts from the Zoological Garden, passing by the entrance to the Gospodinelor Terrace, on the forest path and following the path up the mountain ridge.
Those wishing to combine walking with a gondola ride can start the route from the train station. From time to time a few footpaths appear through forests that intersect the road, without any signs to Three Boilers. Continue on the ridge of the mountain. The route is also accessible to children.
The landscapes towards the Bistrita Valley and the Ceahlău Massif can only be admired in the two forest cuts made for the aerial electric network. After about an hour of leisurely walking, a few rocks appear in the path, one of which stands out because of the resemblance to a three-eyed skull. It is the three burrows that give the name of the place, Three Boilers. They were also called Huge Boilers, due to the rainwater that accumulates in the three holes. The rocks are at 679 meters altitude. The effort of climbing the 22 meters vertically is amplified by a few descents followed by slopes that intersect to the destination.
"The micro-relief is the result of the action of the wind, of the wind phenomenon, which happened 20,000 years ago. At that time, Ceahlău Massif was under the cover of eternal snow, and the lower region of Stanisoara had a harsh and cold climate, with strong winds, low vegetation carpet and a thin, discontinuous snow blanket, as it is now in Europe and Asia at over 60 ° northern latitude, ”explained geologist Constantin Grasu.
