The church in Lieberhausen is a quarry stone building with a west tower, transept and originally rectangular choir, 23.80 m long (with tower), 11.70 m wide. The pillar basilica, dating from the 11th century, is furnished with wall and ceiling paintings, some of which date back to medieval frescoes that were originally made to bring the Christian message to the inexperienced people of the Middle Ages.

The church is surrounded by a typical village square. Good place for a breather.

The Bonk (colorful) Kerk is a special delicacy: Since the population was not literate and the rite was held in Latin, the Bible had to be replaced by frescoes. After the Reformation, everything was painted over, then rediscovered, uncovered and restored. Lieberhausen is one of the finest examples of Bergisch church art:
Of course, photography with a flash is not allowed.
