We were on the Rhine cycle path from Andermatt to Karlsruhe. This of course also includes the hike to the official source of the Rhine, the "Lai Da Tuma". A small high mountain lake that collects the water from many springs. From the lake, the mountain stream is called "Vorderhein". At Reichenau in Switzerland the front and rear Rhine finally flow together and from here the Rhine is finally called the RHEIN. It was very nice to have stood at the source of this great river

The source of the Rhine is Lake Toma (Romansh Lag da Toma or Lai da Tuma) in the canton of Graubünden

Easy hike, beautiful view and who can say that he was at the source of the Rhine?

A Polish kayaker started for peace in Rotterdam on July 30th, 2020 and arrived at Lai Da Tuma (source of the Rhine) on August 30th, 2020. His kayak is now standing next to the Rheinquellen - memorial stone.

The route from the Oberalp Pass via the Pazolastock to the source of the Rhine is currently easy to walk on. We went the way today! Very nice. Approx. 11km and 740hm up and down. There are still a few snow fields above. But are easy to go! Went with a big dog. It was really great.

In July of the Anno Coronae 2020 a Pole, Piotr Kuryło, covered the distance of 1320 km up the river from Rotterdam to the source of the Rhine in a kayak. His kayak stayed up there on the Lai da Tuma.

The Lai da Tuma is considered the source of the Rhine and is a mountain lake that is beautifully embedded in the landscape. Very busy on weekends.

Even in overcast weather a nice place. It is recommended the longer way from the bathhouse to the lake.

A worthwhile climb, with lots of loose boulders. Even the little children have a lot of fun and scurry past one.

Did it on a bike a few days later. Bicycles had to stay down, were too heavy. 😀

The source of the Rhine is definitely worth a detour. Especially nice when you get to the tomato from the Pazolastock.

When you go over the Pazolastock it is not too far to the source.
