At this point you cross the small but characteristic Rio Vallesina, which flows into an artificial lake used for the production of hydroelectric energy. Once there was a populous district here, with mills and sawmills, but it was hit by several fires (the biggest was on March 30, 1871, which left 17 families homeless) and by a strong flood in 1966; today it is inhabited by very few families.
