The church of San Dionisio, located on the homonymous hill, is certainly one of the most suggestive and easy to reach destinations in the Valle di Cadore area. From here you can enjoy a spectacular 360 ° panorama over the whole of the Cadore center, the Boite valley and the Comelico with their respective massifs that dominate them. Starting from the south, anticlockwise, stand out Monte Rite and Sassolungo di Cibiana, south-east Cima dei Preti and Duranno, and then the Spalti di Toro and the Cridola. To the north the Marmarole with Cimon del Froppa rise, while the Crode de San Piero and Croda Mandrin anticipate the majestic Antelao. There are many legends about how and why the small church was built. Wanting to get away from the noise of man's work on the valley floor, San Dionisio is said to have chosen this hill to retire in prayer and that the chapel was built in his honor. Due to its dominant position over the valleys below, this peak was chosen to discourage and counterattack the Austro-Hungarian attacks against Tai di Cadore airport. An important base that had trenches, machine guns and a telephone connection with the Calvi di Pieve di Cadore barracks.
