The Visconti-Sforzesco Castle of Galliate was built by the Sforzas starting from 1476 on a pre-existing Visconti fortress. Inside its beautiful frescoed rooms it houses the Civic Library and some exhibition spaces, one of which is dedicated to the Galliatese racing driver Achille Varzi. The castle is largely owned by the municipality.

The Castello Sforzesco di Galliate (or Castello Visconteo Sforzesco) was built by the Sforza family between 1476 and 1496 on a pre-existing Visconti fortress. It represents one of the most significant and well-known monuments of the Novara area for its magnificence and unity of layout. It occupies the northern side of Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the heart of the city.
