The Felsenmeer is one of the most impressive geotopes in the UNESCO Geopark or Geo-Nature Park Bergstrasse-Odenwald and, having been designated a National Geotope in 2006, is one of the most important geological sights in Germany. It is just over 2 km long and up to 100 m wide and extends over a height of around 200 meters. The Felsenmeer was already used by the Romans and later by local stonemasons to extract stone.
