The Würm Canal connects the Würm with Schleissheim Palace. It starts in Karlsfeld and ends at Schleissheim Castle, where it flows into the Schleissheim Canal. The first canal was built in 1601 to provide the Schwaige of Duke Wilhem v with additional water. Max Emanuel then had the canal rebuilt further north in 1690/91. Construction material was brought to Schleissheim Castle on the canal. The northern Munich canal system includes: Dachau - Schleissheimerkanal, Pasing - Nymphenburgerkanal, Nymphenburg - Biedersteinerkanal. The canals connect the Würm and Amper with the Isar.
