The Pastor-Bode-Weg is named after Wilhelm Bode, who was a pastor in Egestorf from 1866 to 1923. He pushed the establishment of cooperatives in Germany and was committed to nature conservation. He bought several areas, including the Totengrund and the Wilseder Berg, in order to preserve them in their natural form. On the path that leads through dense and quiet forest, there are plaques with information about the heather pastor.

Pastor Bode Weg is dedicated to the famous Heidepastor Wilhelm Bode (1860-1927). As pastor of Egestorf, Wilhelm Bode worked tirelessly for the preservation of the heathland. The purchase of the Totengrund in 1906 and the establishment of the Association for the Nature Conservation Park in 1909 happened on his initiative. In doing so, he paved the way for today's nature reserve.
