The plague also broke out in Partenkirchen during the Thirty Years' War, which raged from 1618 to 1648. Fearing the contagious disease, the people of Partenkirchen buried the dead in a plague cemetery just outside the community. The current building of St. Sebastian's Church stands on the site of the plague cemetery that was once established. The foundation stone for the church building was laid in 1637.
