I met the friendly owner painting outside today and enquired as to the history of his beautiful house.

He was kind enough to show me inside it too. It is a holiday home and is usually fully booked.

This was originally the Gatekeeper's House.
The road crossing the previous railway line needed supervised access depending on the train schedule.

Now it is a Grade II listed building.
