Had to kill some time whilst waiting for the dog clippers to recharge so we went along the canal and stayed long enough to enjoy the dusk chorus. Cookie couldn't give a monkey's at being out in public half clipped. 😁I just have to wait for her to dry off now before I can finish her off. 😄

Another trip to the abattoir meant I could take a walk with Cookie from the nearby Bathpool Park and beyond.A very pleasant exploratory stroll and we met a few particularly pleasant dogs and dog owners.Very nice but VERY muddy.🐾

Taxi duties to and from Burslem meant I had 2 hours to fill. Cookie had an impromptu opportunity to go for a walk in the heritage park again so that's exactly what we did.We parked in the Ford Green Hall car park which was nearer to us.We went the longer way around which meant I got to see the coal trucks for the first time.We didn't go to the summit this time as we had to leave well before sundown.I don't particularly take pleasure in viewing the landscape beyond the Ford Green Brook as it is a densely populated area.
Much nicer to look up to the heavens, particularly when the sky is ablaze.

This was longer than I anticipated and the terrain was a challenge after the recent flooding.
Cookie took it all in her stride.
Or rather the mud took Cookie in her stride😄That dog is one in a million. And this is her longest hike ever to date.🏆She is now drying off whilst chowing down on a very meaty and much deserved bone.

For some reason, it didn't record it all?Anyhow, the heavens opened as soon as I had donned my welligogs and reached the end of our street.I had to shield Cookie with my body from the pelting hailstones for several minutes.I decided to press on after the worst had ceased and it turned to heavy rain.We were already soaked so why the heck not do a quick round of the park!I've not seen the park so flooded before and I've lived around here for many years. The winds were strong too and it was not reassuring to see a recently uprooted established tree that was weakened by the floods.

We were at the nearby local abattoir (AJ Green's) for Cookie's fodder (much recommended if you are in the area) so thought I would brave 'storm Dennis' and take Cookie for a quick walk around the park.Thankfully I keep a towel in the car for her mucky excursions. It was certainly needed today.

My GPS was playing silly beggars today so it doesn't show where we walked correctly at all.On the first part of the explore, Cookie had lots of fun off leash on some lush hilly grass but it wasn't until we had reached the main road that I saw the sign, 'Private Road'.
This doesn't show on komoot so I need to come another time to correct my route.Ladderedge park is ideal for dog walkers.Cookie had an incredible time romping around on soft mossy banks.I will definitely revisit in the warmer months for an all day explore incorporating the nearby canal.

Each moment is a gift.
That's why we call it the present.
