The village of Gruorn in the Swabian Alb no longer exists today. It was completely cleared in 1939 to expand the Münsingen military training area, and the residents were relocated. Next to the schoolhouse, the Stephanus Church is the only remaining building that is reminiscent of the former village of Gruorn.

In 1937 the Münsingen military training area was expanded, 665 inhabitants had to leave the village of Gruorn. The square was used for military purposes until 1992. It is thanks to an initiative of former Gruorns that at least the school house and the church have been preserved.
A small village museum is set up in the school building. There is a small restaurant in summer. Be sure to inquire about opening times beforehand.
Stained glass windows have been installed in the church in recent years.
Guided tours through the town and the military training area are possible with prior notice.
Occasional concerts take place in the church.

If you follow the path and turn around the school house, you can still see the remains of old houses. A memorial for peace!
