The legend of the Fairy Gavardina

The legend tells of a fairy called Gavardina, whose melodious song was a reason for well-being for the inhabitants of the Ledro Valley, who felt cradled under its invisible protection. One day the fairy felt in the thoughts of the Ledrensi a certain malaise, caused by the presence of some bad insects that ate the leaves of the plants, a reason for the despair of the villagers so fond of the nature of their valley. The fairy, being good, could in no way destroy these insects, but she knew the Snow Wizard of Val Rendena, who was willing to help the fairy and the valley dwellers by making the vegetation shine with the help of his elves. But the fairy's mood did not change, as she saw that the Valley had changed due to this misfortune: the villagers no longer treated their land with love, leaving it uncultivated and decadent. So the fairy fled into the damp caverns of the Val di Fi, above the Val Concei. From that day on it is not known whether she is still alive, and no one goes up there to drink from the seven springs and listen to her song. The Fairy Gavardina reminds us how our ancestors used to live in the Trentino mountains and their link with the land, which has been radically changed in recent decades.

The wooded plain that anticipates the Al Faggio Refuge, transformed into an enchanted forest where it is possible to walk among gnomes, fairies and forest animals. Here, in 2018, the sculptors of the Leder Legn association were inspired by the legend of the Fairy Gavardina for their wood sculpture workshop. The works were created by eleven artists under the supervision of the famous master Livio Tasin.
