The Assmannshäuser Höllenberg with its microclimate of sunlit slopes, the balancing and heat-reflecting Rhine at your feet and the ideal composition of the slate and quartzite soils make it a solitaire in the whole of Germany: Pinot Noir of international top quality grows here in the middle of one of the most well-known Riesling-growing regions. That is why the red wine has been grown here on 46 hectares since the 13th century. The particularly steep Höllenberg in Assmannshausen, with its high proportion of slate, is considered the prime piece of red wine cultivation in the Rheingau and one of the best red wine locations in Germany.
