In the center of the Branitz Park is the castle, built between 1770 and 1772. It houses the Fürst-Pückler-Museum with historical living rooms and an exhibition on the life and work of Prince Pückler as well as the Cottbus collection with paintings by Carl Blechen. Opposite the castle are the stables with exhibition rooms and the cavalier house, in which there is a restaurant.

Wonderful ensemble, it is worthwhile to explore the area on the gravel paths even with a racing bike (also works with 23er tires). Branitz Castle was built in 1770 and 1771 for August Heinrich Graf von Pückler (1720-1810). The Pückler family came into the possession of the village of Branitz in 1686. In 1785 the family moved to Muskau Castle and Branitz was leased. Hermann von Pückler-Muskau sold Muskau Castle and moved to Branitz in 1845. There he created a landscape park based on the English model
