Hiking

In 1343, a chapel dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene was built above the now-defunct village of Lindau. This is why the chapel is also called the "Lindau Chapel." The destruction of the chapel in the Thirty Years' War (1618 to 1648) did not stop people from continuing the annual processions that had been customary for centuries - now to the ruins of the chapel. Over 200 years later, in 1866, the broken walls were torn down and the current chapel was built in 1868.
