The Hailfingen-Tailfingen concentration camp subcamp was a subcamp of the Natzweiler/Struthof concentration camp in Alsace, located near Gäufelden-Tailfingen. While it existed, i.e. from November 1944 to February 1945, at least 186 of the 601 Jewish prisoners imprisoned there died. The concentration camp prisoners' primary task was to expand and repair the Hailfingen night fighter airfield. For this purpose, many of the inmates had to do forced labor in the surrounding quarries, passing through several villages on the way twice a day. They were housed in an aircraft hangar fenced with barbed wire on the site of today's Tailfingen sports field. There they suffered from cold, poor clothing, hunger, beatings, poor hygiene, vermin and disease.
In many cases they were already weakened by previous camps and transports – also by the loss (murder) of family and friends.
