One of the areas best land marks This along with the fort at Richborough castle guarded the entrance to the Wantsum channel which separated the Isle of Thanet, from the mainland in roman times.

A 12th century set of towers which were modelled on an old Roman Fort built during the Saxon raids. It's run by English Heritage but it's free to go and take a walk around. There's plenty of info on the site itself and there's also a great little cafe which is popular with cyclists.

Cafe just before the Towers. Well worth a visit, entry is free and there is plenty of signage around giving you information about the history of the site.
