The car-free Rhine promenade lets you forget the hustle and bustle of the big city for a moment. If you want to explore both banks of the Rhine, ferries offer a crossing including bicycle transport for € 3.50.

    Travel times: Mon-Fri from 07:00 to 20:00, Sat + Sun from 09:00 to 20:00.

Current travel times and exact departure ports can be found on the homepage: rhein-faehre.de

The casemates are part of the Rheinuferpromenade, located directly in front of Düsseldorf's Old Town. Originally (from 1898) the casemates served as flood protection, goods transfer and storage areas. Today, there are jetties, restaurants and bars as well as regular events of all kinds. For Japan Day, costumed anime and manga fans meet at the casemates - an impressive colorful experience.

The bike path runs above the casemates, with a beautiful view of the Rhine.

So, - now the tour is done and in one of the many casemate pubs is certainly a place to reward yourself with a delicious Altbier and watch the ships on the Rhine.

A little to the left below the large staircase and not visible from the bank, the northern Düssel flows into the Rhine here. At this point, the Düssel gave the village on its banks the name Düsseldorf in the Middle Ages.
