The Mässing valley, to which Thalmässing belongs, looks back on a long history: It probably dates back to the 5th century. Thalmässing itself was first mentioned in the year 900, at that time still under the name “Talamazzina”. No wonder that the tranquil place has a medieval flair. If you have some time with you, you can visit the magnificent St. Michael Church, which was consecrated at the end of the 12th century. If you want a little more culture and history, stop by the Museum of Prehistory and Early History.
Of course, Thalmässing also has a lot to offer in culinary terms. A highlight is the Lederer butcher's shop, which only processes meat from small farms in the area and is particularly known for its red press sack.
