The Waldstein quarry is still an active quarry owned by Grasyma AG. Core granite is mined here, e.g. Use in road and railway construction (inclined plane) or in monumental construction (Reichstag site). - With the founding of the United Fichtelgebirge Granite, Syenite and Marble Works AG, in 1909 twelve previously quarries in the Fichtel Mountains, which had been privately operated, were brought together. The result was a company with around 1,000 employees and a total of 21 quarries.
