On the opposite side of the river there is a small mountain range: the Siebengebirge. The westernmost elevation is the Drachenfels mountain. There is an old castle ruin on it. Only when we get closer do we discover a castle below, the color of which almost blurs with the mountain. It is Drachenburg Castle. If you want to go to the castle, you can take the ferry in Königswinter.

The Drachenfels offers beautiful views and can be visited again and again. But the view * on * the mountain - about from the Rhine ferry - is always nice

The view of the Drachenfels is one thing, but the whole section is beautiful. A little bit of '50s excursion muff - which is meanwhile also iconic. Then there is the Petersberg to see and also Castle Drachenburg. Recommended.

The building is a replica, I believe from the 19th century, but it is worth a visit from outside and inside. The day before the castle was closed because of shooting, but fortunately we had seen it on the web page. As: before check if open!

The section here is totally beautiful whether by bike or on foot; In addition to the view, the secret gardens are also nearby in the south, as well as the best ice cream parlor ever in the north (in Mehlem opposite the church), one or the other geocache is also hidden in between.
