The current Protestant village church of Wetter-Wengern (on the Ruhr), which dates back to the early 9th century (precursor chapel), was formerly the Catholic church in the village until the Lutheran doctrine was adopted in the middle of the 16th century and it became Protestant. Much later, this new building was built, the patronage of which is Saint LIBORIUS and can probably be traced back to the beginnings of Christianization here.
