"Sos cuiles," or "the sheepfolds" in Italian, represent the last testimonies of pastoral life on the remote hills of Supramonte. Until the 1960s, the shepherds from Urzulei, Baunei, Dorgali, Oliena and Orgosolo had developed a system of economic exploitation based on the breeding of goats and pigs, challenging the extreme and wild conditions of Sardinia which made any other form of survival.
The Cuile Ziu Tattanu is one of these shelters, restored in 2012 to bring it back to its original Sardinian form. Today it serves as a mountain lodge with a fire pit. It is definitely possible to sleep in it.

Cuile Ziu Tattanu is a mountain sheepfold restored in its original Sardinian form in 2012 by many volunteers from surrounding villages.
Today it serves as a mountain hut with a fireplace, and you can certainly spend the night there.
