The hidden rock formation above Rotenhar was once a refuge in times of war and is said to have been a place of ceremonies for the "Anabaptist" sect in the Middle Ages. Today the wild and romantic Teufelskanzel is one of Gschwend's figureheads. The natural monument is located on a small side bend on the Frickenhofer Höhe cultural and landscape trail.
