Beautifully located mountain lake, which can be surrounded on beautiful paths.

Just lovely. Ideal for taking pictures. Is wonderful to circle around and on the other side are the hotels and then begins the magic forest. Just nice to enjoy and relax.

The two stones in the water with their small trees provide a perfect foreground for a Hintersee panorama. Note the rule of thirds and takes a wide-angle lens as possible and you have it in the box;).

"Wuahhh, it's cold!" - that was my reaction when I climbed into the crystal clear sea. No wonder, because the Hintersee is constantly fed by fresh mountain water. The temperatures therefore do not necessarily invite you to take a bath even in summer. Or are you one of the toughest guys?But hand on the heart: in this play of colors and the fabulous scenery, the pure sight is enough to feel comfortable here.

The path around the lake is not particularly long and on the south bank there is a swimming area. In no case should you miss but the north shore and the adjacent magic forest. This riverside path is really romantic and it is not without reason that scenes for film and television are also filmed here, such as for "Lena Lorenz" in the late summer of 2018.

The Hintersee at the foot of the Reiteralpe and the Hochkalters formed around 3,500 to 4,000 years ago, when a rock fall from the Blaueistal of the Hochkaltermassiv, covering an area of ​​75 hectares, dammed the Klausbach stream rising on the Hirschbichl and at the same time created the magic forest. In order to prevent further silting through the entrained bedload, around 1900 the Klausbach around the Hintersee was led around to its overflow, the Sillersbach, to finally open into the Ramsauer Ache. Nevertheless, the lake today has only one-third of its original area.

The sight is just fantastic and the circuit offers a great fotolocation!
The magic forest is also recommended.

The whole way to and in the magic forest is a single highlight! Ideal with children. The path is a single adventure playground. Forest, rocks and water. The path is not suitable for stroller or wheelchair, because there are always steps and bottlenecks.

The trail around the Hintersee is very nice. The magic forest is also very recommendable and beautiful, you can reach the magic forest in a few minutes.

Beautiful alpine lake with some restaurants around it. Combinable with a very nice walk in the "Zauberwald" (Magic Forrest) where especially kids will have tons of fun in climbing and hiding around the huge stones.
