This village, located on a hill northwest of Dietramszell, is worth a visit! Old, lovingly maintained courtyards, an interesting church and heavenly peace. This was not always the case: on May 1, 1945, a 40-man SS unit fought a gun battle with the Americans coming from Humbach (northwest). The battle lasted only an hour, but after that there was hardly a stone on the other. The Thankirchener rebuilt their village and they succeeded very well.

This little village was almost completely destroyed from April 30th to May 1st. In one of the nonsense fights "down to the last drop of blood", Germans and Americans fought a battle in which everything burned down. The residents all survived. A frieze reminds of this.
