The approximately 3 km long Friedrich-Franz-Weg, which is named after the Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III who died in 1897, was created between 1896 and 1898. Starting at the obelisk in Lübstorf, this path leads through the forest park to the Wiligrad castle grounds.

For more than a hundred years, the Friedrich - Franz - Weg has meandered from the Lübstorf train station to the construction of the castle through the Wiligrad forest.
The fact that this path once represented a special feature as a princely promenade can only be guessed at today. 1896 - 1898 Wiligrad Castle was built for Duke Johann Albrecht - a correspondingly representative driveway was required.
The first work began by the winter of 1896.; Trunks were cleared and earth 4m wide was dug out, mountainous terrain was leveled, lowlands filled with gravel and slag, a log dam 17m long was built.
On April 24, 1897, the Friedrich - Franz - Weg was officially inaugurated.
