Hiking

The gardener's tower is located across from the castle. The massive basement of the tower dates back to the Middle Ages, built from the remains of the medieval fortress that was on the island at that time. Its octagonal structure and the helmet roof were created in the 19th century.
Today the tower houses one of the Mainau souvenir shops as well as changing exhibitions about the Bernadotte family on the upper floor. A visit is always worthwhile, as the gardener's tower offers a unique view of the arboretum and Mainau Castle.
