Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary

No traces have been preserved of the first church building when the parish was founded. The oldest part of the current church still in existence is the choir, which dates from the early 15th century. Until 1848, a nave measuring 24 m long and 12 m wide was added. Due to insufficient space and the damaged roof structure, the nave was rebuilt in 1848.
The church was re-consecrated on September 9, 1849. In 1851, the parish church received a new organ, built by organ builder Specht from Amberg.
The church tower stood about 30 steps from the church in the 18th century. In 1743, the church tower collapsed and was rebuilt in 1753, directly adjacent to the extended nave. In 1945, the tower was badly damaged in a bombing raid.
The small Chapel of Our Lady has been built outside the apse since 1847. The painted stone figure of the seated Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus, which is now on the altar in the Chapel of Our Lady, was probably located here. In 1912, Pastor Johann Hiederer had the Loudes Grotto built on the tower on the right and the Mount of Olives Chapel on the left. The sacristy was also moved to its current location during this time.
The high altar is decorated with late Gothic figures of the Virgin Mary between St. Wolfgang and John the Evangelist. The Twelve Apostles are placed below. The top of the high altar is decorated with the throne of grace in the middle, St. Emmeram on the right and St. Ulrich on the left.
To the right of the high altar is the gravestone of Jörg Wurmrauscher von Frauenberg zu Pfalzpaint and his wife Margarete. The people's altar contains the relics of Roman martyrs. The baptismal font dates from the 17th century.
The side altars contain the reliquaries of Hirschau's patron saints, St. Placidus and St. Pius. The Madonna of the Rosary completes the pointed arches of the presbytery. The medallions on the wooden ceiling are noteworthy: the Annunciation, the Stations of the Cross and the Coronation of Mary. The shields depict invocations from the Litany of Loreto. The choir stalls were remade in 1986 by master carpenter Birner from Hirschau. The people's altar and the ambo were made from the old choir stalls.

On the south side of the church there is a statue of Christ on a square base.
