The flood retention basin Herrenbach (also called Herrenbachstausee) is located in the district of Göppingen. It is located in the eastern part of the Schurwald near Adelberg and Schorndorf-Unterberken. It is operated by the water association Fils - like the flood retention basin Christental and Simonsbachtal. The flood retention basin was created in the 1970s after repeated flooding in Herrenbachtal. The 22 m high and 220 m long dam of earth material is constantly dammed to a part. He has a Vorsperre, which is separated by a Vordamm of the main barrier. The reservoir also serves the low water increase of the fils. The lake has become a popular recreational area for hikers and walkers due to its scenic location. The water surface is not used for recreational purposes, only as angling waters.

Nice hiking trails along the lake. You can also hike off the beaten track and come back to the lake again and again.
