After the Second World War, the Heidefriedhof in Letter Bruch was built. At that time there was a Reich labor service camp here, which after the end of the war served as a reception and transit camp for the numerous expellees from Silesia. The residents of the old people's home, which was about 3 kilometers outside the town of Lette, could hardly or not manage the long distances to the Catholic cemetery for funerals and visits to graves and urgently wanted a burial site nearby. On November 7, 1950, the district president approved a new cemetery for the old people's home in Lette.

The area of the former Reich labor service camp Letter Bruch was used from 1946 by the Coesfeld district for the temporary accommodation of displaced persons from the former German eastern regions. From 1949, the transit camp became the Heidehof, a retirement home for the residents who remained in the camp and who, due to their old age, were no longer able to start a new life. The 119 deceased from the Heidehof were buried 300 m south of the facility in a wood.In 1960 the Heidehof was closed and the cemetery was no longer used. After the rest periods had expired, the former cemetery was included in the landscape planning as a memorial. The Heidefriedhof is maintained by the Lette Heimatverein.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidefriedhof_(Lette)
