The nice town of Prüm is characterized by the Basilica of St. Salvator right in the city center. Charlemagne once had the first Salvator Church built. As the place where the relic of Christ's sandals was kept, the abbey church of the Benedictine Abbey of Prüm was so precious that it was called the “Golden Church”. Inside the basilica you can admire the baroque high altar, the reliquary and the emperor's grave of Emperor Lothar, the grandson of Charlemagne.

The basilica is not only very impressive.
The history and the stories of Pippin, Emperor Charlemagne, Ludwig the Pious and Emperor Lothar, which entwine around this basilica and the abbey, are inspiring.
Here is perhaps not only the nucleus of the great Frankish empire and its heirs, but also the nucleus of Europe.

The basilica is now locked inside for about one year due to restoration! UPDATE: Basilica reopened!
