In 2021, during heavy rainfall, the Prüm swelled and washed away half the Wald campsite in the town of Prüm, resulting in one death. The Prüm rose by 1.5 to 2.0 meters and many houses and farmlands suffered from a lot of flooding. The speed with which this happened was underestimated by many.
