South-east of the town of Santa Croce, on the top of Mount San Primo (278 m asl), there is the lookout dedicated to one of the most important Italian intellectuals of the early twentieth century: Scipio Slataper. From its top you can admire a splendid panorama of the Gulf of Trieste and the Miramare Castle. The current structure, on whose terrace there is a wind rose, was erected in 1956 by SE.L.A.D. (Section Work Unemployed Assistance), a body of Civil Engineering created after the Second World War. At the time, the unemployed who obtained a subsidy had to simultaneously lend their work to public works, such as roads, gardens, sidewalks, canopies and lookouts.

Local residents recommend pitching a tent at the lookout point. Wild boars are said to be roaming the woods behind it.
