Between Odenthaler road and Diepeschrath mill you should look for alternative ways, because the tour unfortunately largely runs on the equestrian trails. As long as no riding groups are on the way and the trails are dry, that's OK. If not, it quickly gets uncomfortable, especially if you're traveling with four dogs like us. Hiking trails pass parallel or near the route. Possibly. you have to walk a few meters over side roads. In the spirit of peaceful coexistence of all groups this tour should be rescheduled.

Between Dünnwald and Dellbrück, in the extreme east of Cologne, lies the middle of the forest
Diepeschrath mill. It is a place for parties and family, or just stopover on a hike through the forest. Every first and every third Sunday of the month there is also an opulent brunch from 10am to 5pm.

Here you can eat and drink great. There is also a great playground for children and a barbecue area.

Super children's playground for children and adults right next to the excursion restaurant (across the street).

The road is great to walk, even if the weather is fine. Not so important. Delicious food and beautiful scenery right on the edge of the city

At the Diepeschrath mill you can also see longhorn cattle and horses in the pasture. The Mutzbach near the mill is crystal clear.

According to the old chronicle of Diepeschrather Mühle, the founding of the mill dates back to 1653, when grain and mustard seeds were ground, Bergisches country bread was made and home-made schnapps was served to guests.
In 1911 the mill was completely cremated by a large fire.
In 1923, the master roofer Theodor Greis was commissioned to re-cover the roof on what is now the estate. He noticed a small booth with two benches where non-alcoholic drinks were sold for hikers coming from Cologne. After several additions and renovations, this little booth became today's restaurant Cafe Diepeschrather Mühle, where famous guests took refreshments even back then.
