The museum building was built in 1672 and was part of the former hunting lodge as the “Celler Stall”. In 1837, when hunting flourished again in Göhrde under King Ernst August, the Celler stable was renovated. In 1869 the house served as a dwelling for forest officials and forest workers. In 1980 the building was acquired by the municipality and converted. The ›Naturum Göhrde’, a forest museum, has been located in the half-timbered building on König-Georg-Allee since 1985.
