A collaboration between artist John Kennedy and LandLab, Halo is one of a series of unique 21st-century landmarks: Pennine Lancashire's Panopticons. Other works in the series are the Singing Ringing Tree, Atom, Colourfields and Land.

Halo is spectacular enough by day, but at night it glows a sky-blue hue, as if hovering above the town of Rawtenstall. The steel sculpture is also a feature on the Irwell Sculpture Trail, though a short detour from the main Trail is required to see it.
