    Built in 1852 this monument was erected in tribute to Sir Robert Peel; founder of the Police force and Prime Minister 1841-1846.
    The tower opens around once a month when you can climb right to top and enjoy incredible views on a clear day, right over Manchester to the south and to the coast and Snowdonia to the West.

    The Peel Tower was built in 1852 in memory of Sir Robert Peel, founder of the Police and prime minister from 1841 - 1846. Look out for the flag flying from the top of the tower indicating it is open to the public which happens about once a month, when it's open adult admission is £2 and the views are great.
    For the runner it’s a really helpful landmark to aim at as you run back towards town and off the moor.
