The Hanseatic district of Bryggen (Norwegian, German Landungsbrücke, Kai) or Tyskebryggen (German bridge) consists of the former trading posts of the Hanseatic League in Bergen/Norway. The Hanseatic offices occupy the entire east side of Vågen Bay.

The Hanseatic Bryggen is located directly on the harbor and can be discovered free of charge - many winding and multi-level lanes lead you to the literal wood path.

Strolling through the narrow passages and dark arcades takes you back in time, into the darkness of history.
A visit here is a must.

The Bryggen district - one of Bergen's main attractions - is made up of rows of merchant huts lining the eastern shore of the inner harbor basin. Its architecture is unique and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979 as one of the most typical examples of the history and culture of a medieval city. In the office buildings in Bryggen lived merchants and apprentices from many areas, especially from Germany. The warehouses were filled with goods, especially fish from northern Norway and grain from Europe.
Bergen has seen many fires in its history, and about a quarter of Bryggen's buildings date back to 1702, when the older warehouses and office buildings had fallen victim to a fire. The remaining buildings are mostly recent, although there are still some stone cellars from the 15th century.
Today, Bryggen is a fascinating beehive of workshops where painters, weavers and artisans make unique pieces. In addition, there are numerous restaurants and several museums in Bryggen that illustrate the history of the district and the city.

Absolutely worth seeing. Not only from the water but also the small alleys. Unfortunately, Bergen is the rainiest city in Norway. But with a bit of luck, it's a dream.
