The Landgravine of Thuringia was canonized in 1235 and went down in history as "Saint Elizabeth". A lasting monument to this charitable woman is set in the Elisabethkemenate.
Another memorial in the castle is dedicated to the creator of the song "Es ist ein Ros aussprungen" Michael Praetorius, who is a son of the city of Creuzburg.
