The dead trees play almost no role here, the highlight is the path and the raised bog.

Good for beginners too. Runs through varied, atmospheric flora and fauna, which strongly reminds of Scandinavian mountain ranges.

The Abbigraben is a moat that was created in 1827 southeast of Torfhaus. He served to supply the mines of Burgstätter train to Clausthal with drive water for the local water wheels. The trench taps the waters of the Abbe, which rises in the water-rich Brockenfeld - a swamp area southwest of the Brocken. The total length of the trench is 1540 meters.

In winter, frozen snow on the wooden plank path can become dangerously smooth. Spikes over the soles of the shoes are recommended.

Nice path through the bog. Here, too, the effects of bark beetle infestation are clearly visible.

On the Goetheweg in the direction of Brocken you reach the "Great Torfhausmoor", which you can explore over a wooden walkway. This is the headwaters of the Radau, a tributary of the Oker, in which the moor was formed around 3,000 years ago and reached its present size. The Große Torfhausmoor is one of the oldest raised bogs in the high Harz.

Small detour from the main path in the moor. The path runs on wooden floorboards and leads back to the Goetheweg.
