Here the Ryck flows into the Bodden. In front of here you can easily watch incoming and outgoing ships.

At the far end behind the Hotel Utkiek you have a nice view of Wieck

The Ryck rises in the Vorpommern-Rügen district as a Ryckgraben. This in turn has a hydrological and a name origin. The hydrological origin lies in the northwestern part, Bremerhagen Forst, of the village Bremerhagen in the municipality Sundhagen. The nameless body of water that flows there flows first west and then south and meets southeast of Hohenwarth (zu Grimmen) on the Ryckgraben by name. This branches off from the Schwedengraben at the Heidebrink residential area in Grimmen, which in turn flows into the Ryckgraben at the B 96 bridge.

The Ryckgraben flows from the union of hydrological and nominal headwaters in an easterly direction. Its water level is a few kilometers long at 20 cm below sea level, held by a pumping station south of Horst. 9.9 km before the mouth into the sea, the water reaches the city limits of Greifswald and is called Ryck from here on. From the Heimattierpark Greifswald the Ryck is included in the Greifswald fortifications. Then the Ryck passes a weir, then passes under a railway bridge and immediately afterwards the Steinbeck bridge with Stralsunder Straße. From here it is navigable the last five kilometers to the sea. Here it also forms part of the Greifswald port, which, before the old town, is only a museum harbor. In the Wieck district, the historic Wieck wooden bascule bridge spans him. This is followed by facilities for yacht club sports shipping and the storm surge barrier that was newly built in the 2010s. Then it flows into the Danish Wiek, the southern part of the Greifswald Bodden. The catchment area of the Ryck covers approximately 23,400 hectares.
