The district Hoher Knochen is located in the nature park Sauerland-Rothaargebirge about 2.5 km east of the Schmallenberg district Westfeld. It is located on the saddle between the foremost high bone (764.7 m) in the northeast and the Hömberg (695.4 m) in the southwest and between the valleys of the Lenne in the southeast and the Lenne tributary Black Siepen in the northeast, to 637 up to 650 m above sea level. The ridge of high bones, belonging to the natural habitat Lennekessel, exists as a southwestern foothills of the Kahler Asten (841.9 m) from the Vordersten Hohen Knochen (764.7 m) in the southwest and the Hintersten Hohen Knochen (about 750 m) in the northeast, the separated by a saddle (665 m) with two hunting lodges there and, as the village of High Bone between the Lenne and their inflow Schwarzes Siepen lie. The hindmost high bone rises to the northeast to the Kahler Asten.

The High Bone is a two-branched foothills of the Rothaargebirge located in the Kahlen Asten and belongs to the natural area Lennekessel. From the ridge you have a fantastic view and can make yourself comfortable on the bench.
