During a tour along the Oste a change of pace with the ferry ferries at Brobergen and upriver in Gräpel can be attractive (operation from May).

The "Brobergen" ferry jug
A ferry from Brobergen to Ostendorf has been in operation since 1838. Even back then, the ferryman ran a restaurant, the Fährkrug, as a sideline. The previous building to today's Fährkrugs building was built by the last lord of the manor in 1584 and stood at this point until 1941. In 1956 today's Fährkrug was opened.
In 2008 the ferry company took over the ferry jug as a leaseholder. After the successful renovation of the building and the interior, the members of the association succeeded in making the "Brobergen" ferry jug a popular excursion destination. Guests from the surrounding area as well as from far away enjoy a piece of nature that is hard to find anywhere else along the Oste.
Cyclists stop on their tours along the Oste River to refresh themselves. Associations hold their meetings and celebrations. Politicians meet for working meetings. Even weddings are celebrated in the ferry jug ......
