The steep section, which would lead straight through the forest in the section of the same name, was originally built for automotive tests. Inclines of up to 27% were real endurance tests for vehicles at the time, and some are said to have even flipped backwards. The well-preserved steep section, which is no longer used today, is crossed by visitors going to the Caracciola-Karussell.
